Picasso
Picasso is the name given to the supercomputer at the University of Malaga since its creation in 1997. Over the years, Picasso has undergone expansions and updates, now boasting a configuration with 40,000 computing cores and 180 TB of RAM.
Picasso is responsible for providing computing capacity to any researcher at the University of Malaga who needs it. Additionally, it extends its services to users from other universities and research institutions in Andalusia through the Plataforma Andaluza de Bioinformática, which is headquartered at the SCBI. Furthermore, it provides services to users across Spain through the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES).
The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES)
The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), established in March 2007 under the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science, is a distributed Scientific and Technical Singular Infrastructure (ICTS) spanning across Spain. It comprises 14 interconnected nodes linked by high-speed networks. Its main objective is to provide supercomputing resources, data management, and artificial intelligence services to support the development of innovative and high-quality scientific and technological projects. These services are offered through competitive calls, prioritizing projects with demonstrated scientific excellence.
