Metagenomics by Shotgun
The Shotgun Metagenomics Service allows the study of the genetic and functional diversity of complex microbial communities present in environmental or biological samples. Shotgun Metagenomics involves sequencing the total DNA of a sample. This approach provides a complete view of all genes, including those unknown or unculturable microorganisms.
Bioinformatics analysis of Metagenomics data by Shotgun is a complex process consisting of several stages, including quality inspection, and preprocessing sequencing reads. Subsequently, the genomes are reconstructed using different algorithms. Once reconstructed, the genes are annotated, and their functions are identified. This stage allows us to carry out an analysis of the biological and functional diversity of the sample, as well as its taxonomic composition.
