The BSC AI Factory is a major European initiative led by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, one of the facilities designated by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking to bring AI closer to European businesses and public administrations.

The Supercomputing and Bioinnovation Centre (SCBI) at the University of Málaga takes part in the AI Factory by contributing the Picasso supercomputer and its technical team, and acts as the entry point for the whole of Andalusia.

The catalogue brings together 24 services grouped into eight families, from access to computing through to training, and including advice on data management, model development and regulatory compliance.

We advise you

We do not develop, deploy or operate systems inside your organisation. All services are advisory in nature: the outcome is a diagnosis, a well-founded recommendation and the material your team needs to carry on working on its own. A reasoned recommendation not to do something is a valid and frequent outcome.

Free of charge

Advice and the delivery of the catalogue services are free of charge for startups, SMEs and public administrations. Large companies are excluded from the free service, on the understanding that they have the infrastructure and resources needed for it.

The infrastructure behind it

AI Factory projects rely at a first level on Picasso, the University of Málaga’s supercomputer, and at a second level on the AI Factory’s own infrastructure at the BSC-CNS, which includes MareNostrum 5.

You don’t need to know it beforehand or know how to use it: the access-to-computing services exist precisely for that.

How we work

From the moment you write to us until we close the work, the path is defined. There is nothing you need to prepare in advance: the first conversation is precisely where we work out what is needed.

You tell us what you need

We receive your request and review your organisation’s context: sector, activity and the problem you want to solve.

We check whether it fits

We check whether what you need falls within the catalogue. If it doesn’t fit, we tell you so with a clear reason and, where one exists, point you to another route.

Discovery session

A conversation of around 30 minutes about the business problem, your current processes, what data you have and where your team stands.

One-page diagnosis

We summarise the above in a short document that defines the problem, the context, the constraints and the maturity level. It is the reference for everything that follows.

Service proposal

We select the relevant catalogue services, validate internally that they are feasible and send you the proposal with a clearly bounded scope.

Delivery and close-out

The service is delivered in phases, with an assigned project lead. At the end we consolidate the results and hand them over to you.
