The analysis of biological data has experienced exponential growth in recent years, largely due to advancements in nucleic acid sequencing technologies, DNA and RNA, creating new needs. As a result, a new discipline has emerged, Bioinformatics, which is based on the computational analysis of biological data sets. One of the most commonly used approaches within bioinformatics is sequencing data processing, a highly valued field of knowledge both by innovative companies and general research, whose demand increases daily. In this introductory course, we will describe the different types of data used in sequencing, as well as the most commonly used bioinformatics analysis algorithms. We aim to provide a broad overview, creating a solid foundation of basic knowledge about the data used in the field of bioinformatics, allowing students to understand the results that can be obtained from the application of different algorithms.
