{"id":8871,"date":"2024-12-17T08:41:28","date_gmt":"2024-12-17T08:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.scbi.uma.es\/web\/?p=8871"},"modified":"2024-12-17T08:42:59","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T08:42:59","slug":"quantum-spain-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scbi.uma.es\/web\/quantum-spain-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Quantum Spain Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On December 11th, the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya (UPC) hosted the annual <strong>Quantum Spain<\/strong> meeting to review the progress achieved in the third year of the project and to present the new quantum computer at the <strong>Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS)<\/strong>. Representatives from the 27 participating institutions, including our <strong>Picasso<\/strong> node, part of the national quantum computing ecosystem, discussed achievements and challenges for 2025. The meeting highlighted progress in building the national quantum computing ecosystem, with initiatives such as the <strong>Quantum Supercomputing Specialists Network<\/strong>, the<strong> TalentQ<\/strong> training program, and the deployment of quantum emulators integrated into the <strong>Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES).<\/strong> Additionally, more than 20 research activities in <strong>Artificial Intelligence<\/strong> (AI) and quantum computing applications were reviewed, focusing on Quantum Machine Learning algorithms.<br \/>\nThe event concluded with a visit to the new quantum computer located in the historic chapel of the BSC-CNS. The system currently features a 5-qubit chip, expanding to 35 qubits in the coming years.
