This was one of the key questions addressed during the Quantum Computing: Revolutionizing Industries session at DES2026, where our colleague Rafael Larrosa represented the SCBI (Supercomputing and Bioinnovation Center) at the University of Málaga.

During the session, we shared our experience in advanced computing and showcased how high-performance computing infrastructures, such as our supercomputing facilities, are accelerating scientific research and innovation across multiple disciplines.

We also presented the initiatives we are driving in quantum computing, an emerging technology expected to complement classical computing in tackling highly complex problems. In this context, we highlighted the upcoming deployment of a new quantum infrastructure at the University of Málaga, scheduled for installation by the end of this year, which will strengthen the capabilities available to researchers and companies interested in exploring the potential of these transformative technologies.

The transition to quantum computing is not merely a technological challenge. It requires robust infrastructure, specialized expertise, and close collaboration among academia, industry, and public institutions. At SCBI, we are committed to contributing to this ecosystem by facilitating access to advanced technologies and supporting the development of new applications with scientific and societal impact.
